After the games, we assembled for a short boat ride to a nearby floating restaurant located off Taman Perling for a sumptuous dinner. On our way there, we had the opportunity to view the magnificent sunset.

After dinner, we returned back to the kelong by boat to complete the balance of out itineraries of the day. Prizes were awarded to the winning team. Prizes were also given to members who had answered questions relating to the operation of kelong fishing too

Lastly, members with birthdates falling in the months of May and June 2007 celebrated their birthdays at the kelong. We finally made our way back to the shores at Danga Bay around 9 pm with members delighted from such an educational outing.

After work, we made our way to the Danga Bay where boarded a fishing boat.

The boat ride merely took 15 minutes when we arrived at a kelong situated at the Johor Straits, just a short distance from the boundary of Malaysia-Singapore. The kelong housed a double storey wooden structure used as workplace as well for dwelling purposes.

After a brief rest, we quickly organized ourselves into groups for some games that had been planned for the event. We had fishing contest where the winner would be decided from the team that catches the most number of fishes from the pond. After that, the teams participated in a seashell contest where they are required to harvest the seashell, extract the meat and fry them. Winner would be decided from the teams who produced the heaviest meat. Lastly, the participants played the balloon game where the team that blew and broke the balloons in the shortest time frame will be decided as winner.

Visit to Kukup, Taman Negara and Tanjung Piai @ 15th April 2007 - Partr 2

Upon returning back to the Kukup town, Mr Ho brought us to visit where the locals reside. We walked on narrow planks connecting each individual houses built on stilts where only bicycles and motor cycles are passable. It was not surprising that most of us were lost after a short walk. We were shown a local Chinese temple with history of more than 100 years old. We also get to view anchoring fishing boats at the edge of the settlement. The sight of new houses under construction also attracted us and we were enlightened by Mr Ho that each building takes about RM250,000 to construct. Most of these buildings are now used by the locals as chalets for the increasing numbers of tourists who have been converging here to distress themselves.

From Kukup town, we moved on to our next destination, Tanjung Piai which is the southernmost tip of the Asia continent. We drove for about 10 minutes in several vehicles and finally reached the site. Mr Ho, the guide shoved us pass the Tanjung Piai Resort and lead us a long walk on a concrete jetty which face the Malacca straits with Singapore island on the background. Many large ships, mostly containers were seen anchoring waiting to berth at ports in the island. The view was magnificent so much so we didn’t mind having ourselves drenched by the drizzle as we were making our way back to the vehicles.

We then make our way to the Kukup Golf Resorts where we had our sumptuous dinner. Of course the main event of the day was where members of the CVClub with birthdays falling in the months of February, March and April 2007 celebrated their birthdays.

The whole outing finally ended at about 8.30 pm where we bid our guide, Mr Ho goodbye. Although unwilling, we reluctantly made our way home back to JB, wondering when would be our next activity in the coming months.

Visit to Kukup, Taman Negara and Tanjung Piai @ 15th April 2007 - Part 1

After driving for almost an hour and a half from JB, we finally reached Kukup town in the district of Pontian. We then assembled at a local restaurant for a quick seafood lunch before boarding a boat and headed towards Taman Negara which is situated on an island known as Pulau Pisang.

During the boat ride which took several minutes, we were treated with views of numerous buildings, old dilapidated as well as modern structures constructed on stilts and floating kelongs used for fishing purposes.

Soon after, we were greeted with a majestic jetty which Mr Ho, our guide for this outing promptly announced our arrival at the Taman Negara. Taman Negara is known for its intensive mangroves cultivation which is one of the largest in the world approximating more than 1,500 acres. We walked along wooden planks listening attentively to Mr Ho’s explanation on the various aspects of mangroves cultivation. We also learnt that mangroves are effective resistance to tsunamis which swamped the shores of several parts of our country several years ago. Trunks of mangrove trees when burned will be used as charcoal. In the early days of construction, the trunks are also used for piling purposes. There are several places of interest on the island such as the suspended bridge and the viewing tower. We also took the opportunity to try the sampan ride from the inner of the island all the way to the river mouth. The bird enthusiasts will love this place too as the island is also a haven for migrating birds. Too bad we weren’t armed with binoculars for close-up view of the island from the wooden tower.

Before we returned to the mainland, we stopped by a kelong to watch the process of fish rearing. Some of our members also took the opportunity to shop for dry seafood products such as ikan bilis, keropok and etc. Those more adventurous tried carrying life turtle, cray fish as well as feeding fishes with bare hands.

Dinner at Fez Palace, Wisma Abad @ 26th January 2007

At CV Club's first activitiy of the year 2007, we were joined by 20 over members amid a wet evening. We revisited Fez Palace located at Wisma Abad in Taman Century where we had 8-course dinner as well as our favourite past time, Karaoke.

As in the past, members with birth dates which fell in the months from September to January celebrated their birthdays in a simple 'ceremony' as shown above.

Bowling & Dinner at Olive Cafe @ 15th Aug 2006

See the various posses of our members when they bowled at the Ampang Super Bowl located in the Pelangi Leisure Mall. We managed to squeeze in two rounds right after work before we adjourned to the nearby Olive Cafe for a sumptous Italian dinner.

Our birthday boys and girls having a great time, isn't it? The eight are among those whose birthdays fell in the months from May to August. Please don't misunderstand, the colour of the photos are not reflection of their age. I just want to give you some feelings of nostalgia.

Oh yeh, the best part of all. Makan, makan & makan - something which we look forward to at every gathering.

Any suggestion for the next gathering, presumably after the Hari Raya Puasa? I overheard somebody quoted 'Paintball'. Well, that's interesting but dear members, please pay up your subscriptions too or else we will run out of funds or rather funs.

We took speed boats to board the cruise which had anchored at the Johor Straits near to Danga Bay. Beside dinner, we were also treated to performances by transvetites who had most of the audiences tickled with their antics. Visit to the Herbal Resort @ Pagoh on 21st April 2005

We took the opportunity on this public holiday to travel to Pagoh to visit the famous Herbal Resort which was once featured in the TV3. The journey took us about 2 hours from Johor Bahru by coach, thanks to the compliment from KH Travel Sdn Bhd.

Upon arrival and after a short briefing given by representative from the resort on the various products manufactured from its facilities, we were shown a short tour of the resort including the many types of herbal plants cultivated and the facilities available such as restaurant, spas, chalets & etc.

During lunch, we also took the opportunity to celebrate birthdays for our members having their birthdates falling in the months from February to April. On our way back to Johor Bahru, we also dropped by at Yong Peng and Air Hitam to do some shopping of the local products there.

After the Company's in-house seminar on 'Creating A New You' held at the TUSRC, we proceeded with the club's activity. We had the opportunity to learn the basic techniques correctly of which safety aspect are of most crucial in this activity.

After the archery session, the members arrange for birthdays celebration for those members having birthdates in the months from August to October.

Go Karting @ Permas Jaya on 25th July 2004

This event drew the largest turnout from the members as far as I could recall.

Members who aspired to be Formula One racers were seen queuing up for the go-ahead signal by the circuit master. Who was that guy surrendering even before the start of the race? Always remember the motto " Laju Tak Ada; Gaya Mesti Ada, ok".

Hashim was declared the winner of the Go-Kart competition and receiving the champion trophy from Ann, the event organiser.

Members with birthdates from May to July celebrated their birthdays together after the dinner.

Outbound Excursion to Lembah Panti on 7th March 2004

Our first activity of the year 2004 was organised at an outbound resort located somewhere at Lembah Panti in Kota Tinggi, thanks to recomendation from our member, Shafee who has been a regular there.
After a simple breakfast, we started with stretch-out exercise under the close guidance of Shafee's friend who works in the Kota Tinggi's fire department.
This was followed by a slow jog along dirt-track which occasionally required us to monkey-swing across stream and walked on elevated planks. Those bolder tried crossing the lake hanged upside-down from ropes tied from one end to the other only to be completely drench.

These gentlemen were having great fun challenging against each other in canoeing. Mr Long was seen to have lost control of his canoe and dropped his spectacle into the lake. Like finding needle in the sea, he still managed to locate it, what a miracle!
Birthdays were then celebrated by those having birthdates falling in the months from January to March. Karaoke, as usual was one of the most enjoyable past time for the members.

The last event of 2003 was organised at Red Box which was located at Plaza Pelangi where we had dinner and karaoke concurrently. Those having birthdates falling in the months from October to December also celebrated their birthdays.

En. Haiz was seen here rendering his favourite song and being admired by staunch fans at his side.

Table Tennis/Dart-Throwing Competition, Dinner cum Karaoke @ Kong Kong Restaurant on 27th September 2003

After office closed for 1/2 day, we drove in a convoy of several cars to Kong Kong, a remote fishing village located near to Pasir Gudang port. The journey took us approximately 2 hours under traffic condition which was unusually heavy on this Saturday's afternoon. We had earmarked this bustling day with a series of fun-filled activities at this remote yet serene seafood resort.
We started with competitions for table tennis soon upon arrival and followed by dart-throwing among the members.
No, no, no... There was no gambling among the members. They were merely engaged in some card games during the break in one of the chalets while waiting for dinner to be served. As usual, members whose birthdates fell in the months from June to September celebrated their birthdays during the dinnner of which Karaoke was the highlights of the evening.

The Club ventured out of the shore of Johor Bahru for the first time on board a cruise of no-where.

This was followed by a seminar held at the Board Room where Mr S.L. Yeo from Rockwills Corp. Sdn Bhd, a professional will writing company was invited to give a talk on 'The Importance of Will Writing'. The talk had managed to dispel various myths and taboos associated with death which all this while had discouraged many from contemplating to draw up such an important piece of document in life.

Mrs Wee Seng Fatt later presented a lively talk on 'Social Etiquettes' to the members which was hilarious yet practical not only at our workplace but also in our daily lives.

Aerobic, Futsal and Karaoke cum Lunch @ TUSRC on 23rd June 2002

This day was remembered to be one of the most gruelling as we ambitiously cramped a few itineraries into one single day.
We started with an aerobic session as a warm-up. Needless to say, the guys started aggressively to 'impress' our pretty instructor and to show off to their female colleagues how 'man' they are. As the pace got faster and faster, more and more of these guys started to 'fizzle' out along the way as expected.
Demotivated by the early set-back, the guys got on with a futsal match held at the multipurpose hall. Not willing to be outdone by the guys, the ladies sportingly joined in the game, perhaps for the first time for most of them.
After a short break, we adjourned to the members' lounge for a much deserved lunch. Admitedly, many would readily agreed that age had in fact caught up with many of us judging from the fitness level from the aerobic and futsal sessions. This was followed by a prize-giving ceremony to the winning team for the futsal competition.
We proceeded with the main itinerary of the day where members having June birthdates celebrated their birthdays.
As usual, the day would be incomplete withour Karaoke which I think many would look forward to, isn't it?

Finally, we adjourned to the much awaited bowling competition which was held at the Permas Jaya Bowl among the members.
